Thomas C. Hayden has had over thirty years of experience, counseling students and families about the college admission and financing process.

He is the author of the "Handbook for College Admission: A Family Guide," now in its fourth edition from Peterson's Guides.

He has counseled thousands of students--and their parents--about the ins and outs of applying to college, getting accepted, evaluating offers of admission, and financing the costs of the college years. He has traveled to most of the major colleges and universities in the United States, about 120 of them, and formed relationships with many admissions and financial aid deans and directors. In addition he has consulted with banks and agencies, interested in facilitating the whole process of identifying the right colleges and helping parents and students find the funds that will complement family resources in paying for college costs.

Mr. Hayden also knows the internal operations of colleges and universities first hand. He served in the Harvard/Radcliffe Admissions Office as special assistant to the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, and for seven years was Vice President for Admissions, Financial Aid, and Research at Oberlin College in Ohio. At Oberlin, he designed the selection process and developed a system that related financial aid to institutional goals for quality and diversity. Prior to Oberlin Mr. Hayden was the College Counselor at Phillips Exeter Academy for 15 years. During that time he guided over 5000 students and their families through the college admissions process and developed a network of contacts at the nation's leading colleges and universities

Mr. Hayden graduated from Harvard College and has degrees from Trinity College [Connecticut] and Boston University.
