Assessing Your Needs:

At any point in the college selection process College Center experts can provide you and your parents with an overall assessment of your planning and implementation process and make suggestions to improve your chances of admission at the college of your choice. Suggestions for interviewing techniques, application details, further research, networking, and appropriate courses to take and activities to emphasize are examples. Assessments can be electronic, written, or oral, and take into account your overall strategy, as well as specific tactics that will lead you toward success.

Editing Essays and Applications:

Often college applicants have questions about the written portions of the application process: the application itself, the various essays, and what to tell recommendors to say about you to college admissions officers. College Center can review samples of your writing that you may be considering for your essay, and advise you on how to present your ideas in the best in writing. College Center can review and react to your completed college essay and to your application to ensure that you fulfill the expectations of the college and present all your skills and experiences clearly and convincingly. College Center can also advise you on how to approach teachers and counselors who will be writing recommendations for you and how to provide them with information about yourself, so that their recommendations add value to your application. Planning the College Search:

For those of you who contact this site as 8th, 9th or 10th graders, College Center can help you and your parents set up the particular planning process and implementation schedule that you need in order to gain admission to the colleges where you want to go. Advice on high school courses and activities, preference and career testing, researching colleges and their programs, planning for SAT and ACT testing, visiting schools, investigating financial aid and planning for college costs, as well as specific tactical approaches to particular schools are all included in this service. Students and parents can check in with their College Center adviser as often as they need to along the way to admission to the colleges of their choice. The forthcoming links from College Center to college and university websites, to collegiate financial aid sites, and to selected financial institutions will enable your College Center adviser and you and your parents to work closely together at times and at other points for you, the student to accomplish a great deal on your own.

Advising on Strategy and Tactics:

College Center advisers can also provide a quick response to a particular problem that may arise during the college selection and admission process. By phone, e-mail, FAX and Instant e-mail during College Center's office hours prompt advice and counsel as well as specific recommendations can be given to students and parents. The College Center web site provides considerable free information about the college admissions and the college financing process. Through its links to various databases, and its pages on various college admissions and financing topics, College Center willingly shares useful information with visitors to its site. College Center also will recommend books and pamphlets and occasionally, individuals who can assist students and parents with particular parts of the college admission and financing process.

Fee Structure:

College Center is committed to charging fees based on immediate and real value to its customers. Fees will be set after the initial question or request for assistance is posed. Fees will be based on an hourly or on a project basis, whichever is more economical for the client. Once a specific service is ended, students or parents can re-contact College Center for further advice as needed. Fees will be payable by check within 30 days of the beginning of the service to: College Center, P. O. Box 8769, Pittsburgh, PA, 15221-0769.
